Who We Are

The Caring Circle is a non-denominational outreach program designed to assist people within the Milton Catholic Collaborative area who need help. It is also a large network of caring individuals who have made a commitment to help those in need. We are affiliated with the three parishes that comprise the Milton Catholic Collaborative: Saint Agatha of Milton and Quincy; Saint Elizabeth of Milton and; Saint Mary of The Hills of Milton.

Our Focus: People Caring About People!

Thank you for your interest in The MCC Caring Circle. Our ministry connects those in need with those who can help. It offers an innovative and effective way for you to stay in touch with people in your community and provide assistance where it is needed. You may be thinking, “I really can’t afford another commitment in my life! I’m too busy already!” Well, think about this. If you are looking for a way to enrich your own faith and stay connected with your own faith community, all without ever having to leave your house, then The Caring Circle is for you. We will contact you periodically, via email, to ask if you might be willing to share some of your time or treasure to help someone in need. There is no obligation whatsoever, but you will be given an opportunity to make a difference is someone else’s life, and perhaps your own as well. We also offer "hands-on" volunteer opportunities and community service credit if that is what you are interested in. So please, sign up today! And remember, the good you do for others is a good you do for yourself!

The Caring Circle Structure

Our Core Team – a group of individuals of varying ages, backgrounds and professional experience, who manage the day-to-day operation of the program. Core Team volunteers respond to calls from the telephone hotline, discuss strategies to deal with specific needs, and provide solutions or referrals to people in need.

The Caring Circle – A group consisting of hundreds of individuals who live within the Milton Catholic Collaborative area. Caring Circle members consciously choose to stay in tune with the needs of others, and choose to help when and where they can. You can become a part of The Caring Circle by clicking on the "Join Us" link above. You will be asked to provide your email address, name and other (optional) information. You will also be asked to choose what type of communications you would like to receive from The Caring Circle:
  • Caring For One Another – this is the default choice and is required. This allows us to send you periodic emails that outline a particular need within our community and ask only that you consider helping. If you can, great! Email us back and let us know. If you cannot, just delete the email. It’s that simple!
  • Caring Circle Newsletter (optional) – Our monthly newsletter will highlight the work that the program is doing, the challenges we face as a community and list specific volunteer activities that you may want to become involved in.
  • Become an Active Volunteer (optional) – When you sign up, you may decide that you want to be an active participant in delivering services to those in need. In this case, you would be considered an “on-call” volunteer and assigned to a particular group, based on your abilities and your background. While we have not fully determined the extent of services that we will be able to provide, the following are examples of some volunteer activities you might engage in on a periodic basis: provide transportation; pick up or deliver donated items; provide manual labor or professional assistance (job counseling, financial or legal advice).

Volunteer Information and Appreciation Night

Picture
Approximately thirty people attended the Caring Circle's Information and Appreciation Night at Saint Agatha Church on September 18th. There was great energy and enthusiasm evident as members of the Caring Circle "Core Team" explained their mission and their experiences in helping people in need. An inspirational video depicting Jesus proclaiming "The Beatitudes," and a soothing video rendition of "Make Me A Channel of Your Peace" helped those in attendance to both focus and relax. All in attendance were encouraged to provide ideas and feedback, and there was lively and productive discussion on ways to expand the Caring Circle's outreach efforts and membership. Susan Doody, Coordinator of "Irish Senior Connect" at the Irish Cultural Center in Dorchester, gave a presentation explaining their outreach efforts. Approximately 10 individuals signed up to become Caring Circle volunteers and others offered to help in providing transportation and visitation. Thanks to saint Agatha Parish for hosting the event and to all who helped make the evening such a great success!
